Living and Learning with the Youth of Alaska
by Staff
8-29-2006

The Resiliency in Residence Life Project focused on providing a supportive, encouraging and caring environment to students of the three residential boarding high schools of Alaska: Galena Interior Learning Academy (GILA), Nenana Student Living Center (NSLC) and Mt. Edgecumbe High School (MEHS). A primary resource the RRL Project tapped to reach its goals of improved academics, strong communities and increased assets for its students are the talented, dedicated and dynamic housing professionals that make up the Resiliency in Residence Life Team. These RRL staff members lived with, taught/guided and learned from their students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which was both challenging and extremely rewarding.

In addition to their encouraging stories below, these Alaska based Residence Life professionals have put together a book rich with practical tips and activities to educate, inspire, stimulate and empower teens.
Living and Learning: Residence Hall Environments That Help Students Succeed
will help you better connect with students in your schools or living communities.
